Looking for homes for sale in Wayland Michigan

In 1826, the land around Wayland was surveyed for settlement. Prior to that, the Match-E-Be-Nash-SheWish band of the Pottawatomi Indians had a thriving hunting and agricultural community. It is this historic tribe of Native Americans who own the Gun Lake Casino. In 1868, since many migrants had come from New York, the decision was made to name the area, “Wayland,” after a city in New York. Located in Allegan County, the city of Wayland is dotted with trees and subdivisions and retains a small town community feel, yet with many larger town amenities. Schools: Wayland Union Schools.
